Gabriella Marx, M.A. graduated in sociology at the University of Hamburg, Germany. In 2005, she started working as research associate at the Dept. of General Practice/Family Medicine, University of Göttingen. For her PhD thesis, she investigated the relevance of the doctor-patient relationship in the context of hypertension therapy in primary care. In 2009, she began teaching medical students within the framework of a basic skills course, focusing upon doctor-patient communication. She also teaches medical and sociology students about the theory and methods of qualitative research. In 2010, she took over the accompanying research for the preparation and evaluation of the newly-founded Committee for Clinical Ethics at the University Medical Centre in Göttingen. Within the project “Autonomy and trust in modern medicine”, Gabriella Marx started working at the Dept. of Palliative Care in Göttingen as a research associate in the sub-project „Autonomy and trust in the context of clinical decisions in end of life care”.
